Recreation gives people with disabilities the opportunity to participate in a range of sporting and leisure activities. As a consequence clients make friends, achieve personal goals, keep fit and enhance their quality of life.
A calendar of weekend trips and week holidays is circulated to families/clients at the beginning of each year. Some of the trips offered have included:

Clients book into the trips that suit them and pay a deposit to secure their booking. Families/clients are given the opportunity to forward plan and save for specific trips. We encourage clients to pay for their trips/holidays by installments throughout the year.

A number of activities are co-ordinated throughout each school holidays. Clients are forwarded a Program and asked to book the activities they would enjoy. A door to door transport service is provided. An office staff member rings the family a day before the activity to advise of the client's pick up time. Payment for each activity can be pre paid or given to the driver when your family member is picked up.

Discos are held at the Riverland Special School Hall on a Thursday night each month. They commence at 7.30pm and finish at 9.45pm. There is a small fee iinvolved. A door to door transport service is provided for a small fee.

The aim of Riverland Respite and Recreation Service Inc is for clients to be given the opportunity to participate in recreation and sporting programs, that other members of the community take for granted. The service encourages clients to choose their recreation activities, participate and have FUN while socialising with their friends.
When accessing sporting competitions, clients learn about teamwork, commitment to training , and what it is like to win/lose. Another important factor is the friendships they form. The benefits of participating are improved health, personal satisfaction and enjoyment.

Diners Club is offered to clients 18 years and over. Each month clients travel to various clubs and pubs around the Riverland to dine, dance and have fun with their friends.

Ten Pin Bowling is offered monthly on a Saturday. Clients play 3 games and are provided with a door to door transport service.

A variety of sporting activities are offered throughout the year. Sport offers a vast variety of learning opportunities, eg. team dynamics, organising, perparation and much more. RRRSI aims to offer a broad section of sports in a social, friendly and enjoyable format, however clients have the opportunity to progress with their chosen sports via access to Special Olympics Riverland, an organisation that RRRSI has strong connections with. Sporting activities are aimed at being mainstream and generic, offering great opportunities for enhanced community participations, socialisation and participation. Sport and fitness are further included in the WII fitness program that is offered.
Riverland Respite staff are trained and experienced in supporting people with disabilities. All staff posses a Community Services and Senior First Aid Certificate, have undergone a Police Check and undertake medication and other pertinent training on an annual basis.
